Johnny A.
Sometime Tuesday Morning

Favored Nations

Boston based veteran guitarist Johnny A. is probably most famous for playing with Peter Wolf (Ex-J. Geils band front man). This instrumental debut solo record is one great guitar album. You may think because it's released from one of the guitar god Steve Vai's Favored Nations Entertainment that this album is another shredding guitar album like Dweezil Zappa and Andy Timmons but this is not. Sometime Tuesday Morning is cool, smooth, melodic, jazzy album with incredible playing by Johnny A. Right from the opening track, also the title track Johnny A. whips out moody, coolest and slickest licks and chords playing great melody lines and beautiful leads. "Oh Yeah" is a happy snappy poppy rock tune that will make you go 'Oh Yeah!' Johnny A. has done some beautiful covers on this album such as the Beatles' "Yes It Is," Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman," Willie Cobbs' blues classic "You Don't Love Me" and the Ventures' signature "Walk, Don't Run" - all of them are like songs that are sung by warm voices of Johnny A's guitar. You can catch excellent fast country picking guitar on "Up In The Attic" and keeps that country feel to "Tex Critter" where he plays some lap steel guitar as well. Bluesy "Two Wheel Horse" to mellow "Lullabye For Nicole" and cool groovy "Walking West Ave." Johnny A's guitar work is super on this record. After you listen to this you will know why this album sold over 7 thousand copies on its own before this got released from Favored Nations. Any style guitar player will enjoy and appreciate this very talented guitar player's solo effort.
